Los Angeles/Madison - Maria “Fidelina” Pineda, age 77, passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice Care on November 3, 2022, and is now resting in the loving arms of God.

She was born on November 23, 1944, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She moved to the United States and spent 40+ years living in Los Angeles, California. Her last 5 months were lived in Madison, Wisconsin.

After moving to the U.S., she proudly became an American Citizen. Fidelina was a hard-working woman. She worked as a Housekeeper for over 25 years, never missing a day of work. She was dedicated and beyond responsible in every single aspect of her life. She had a “can do” attitude and demonstrated it by her actions. She was a fierce woman and did not allow life situations to keep her down. She rose countless times from different challenges, whether personal or health related, and pushed through. Her strength and willpower are to be admired and never forgotten.

She was a devoted Catholic and attended Our Mother of Good Counsel in Los Angeles. This is where she gained some beautiful friends that would later become family to her.

Welcoming friends, neighbors, and family into her home was something she enjoyed doing. She was the BEST cook (known for her delicious Arroz Con Pollo & Honduran Tamales) and loved hosting, especially during the Holidays. She was a very festive lady! Her home was always decorated for Christmas, she found joy in putting her tree up every year and bringing out all her seasonal decor. Especially for her grandkids to see.

Fidelina is survived by her two daughters, Nancy and Kelly; her grandchildren Natalie, Sebastian, Parker, and Penelope; her son-in-law, Jeff; her sisters, nephews, and nieces whom she loved so much.

We will all miss you dearly Mom! You are loved and appreciated more than you could ever imagine. Our hearts are content that you knew this before leaving us. Thank you for your words of wisdom and doing your absolute best for us. Thank you for loving and caring for your grandchildren with all your heart. Nothing will ever be the same without you…

Fidelina was like a sister to me. She was my Comadre and my friend. She was Byron 's only Godmother . She loved my son like her own. We knew each since I came in this country, 36 years ago. My son and I always appreciated Comadre's thoughtfulness. She never forgot Byron's birthdays, not even once. She always sent him his gift . Those gestures remained in our hearts. We always looked forward to her delicious Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with her special tamales. Those were our bonding moments, our beautiful times together. We may not see each other often nor hear from one another at times but we would always picked up where we left off. We had a special sisterly bond. Fide was a courageous woman. kindhearted, fun-loving and hard working. What inspired me the most was that she was very organized and impeccably clean. Her place was always spick and span! She was also a good steward! We had some wonderful memories to reminisce forever. " Comadre Fide, we will always miss you. We love you! Nancy is my sister in law and I have had the privilege of being in Miss Lina's presence a few times. She was a hoot and a sweet lady!! She loved people and was very kind. Her guacamole 🥑 was amazing!! I loved the few times that she visited Kansas City with my brother Jeff and sister Nancy. We will miss you deeply Lina and may god carry on your spirit of giving through your family and I'm so glad I was able to know you ... love ❤️ Shannon

I met Fidelina, or Lina as I am used to calling her, during one my most trying times, having moved on my own from very far away, not having family nearby - during the unexpected pandemic! After just a few hellos and neighborly pleasantries, beautiful Lina invited me to 'come over any time' and that is how, for me, one of the most beautiful friendships of my life blossomed and unfolded. I don't think there was a time that we spent together that we didn't laugh out loud, her kindness, generosity, and warmth was so refreshing and comforting. Her spirit was young, mischievous and joyful always. She was so smart and had a great sense of humor! She had great admiration and love for her family and friends, and would share stories of her youth and life with much wisdom and vividness. I will keep Lina dear in my heart forever. I love you Lina, I know you are at peace, and I am so thankful I had the honor of meeting you and calling you my friend. Much love to all your family Xxxx
