Obituary
DEFOREST/MORRISONVILLE – Ellen Glennis Lapp, age 77, passed away on November 7, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Ellen was born on August 15, 1945 to parents Glenn and Victoria (Weis) Manthe.
Ellen was a 1963 graduate of DeForest High School, where she met her high school sweetheart Jerome Lapp. Ellen and Jerome were married on May 23, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Leeds, WI. Together they raised four children and celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage.
Ellen started her working years at American Family Insurance then went on to start her own business in Ceramics, while also working as custodian for Yahara Elementary School for over 25 years until retirement. She very much enjoyed working with children and being affectionately called “Miss Ellie”. Ellen loved ceramics and was dedicated to teaching ceramics classes to all ages and at various locations, such as, The Colonial Club, MATC, and Oakwood Village. She was a faithful lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Lapp; children, Lindsey (Tyler) Koppinger, Laurie Lapp, David “Rock” Lapp, Bill (Suzanne) Lapp; grandchildren, Maxwell, Sebastian, and Brendon; siblings, George Manthe, Sid (Jeannie) Manthe, Susan (Lonnie) Kreeger, Gary (Bea) Manthe; sister-in-law, Barbara Manthe; many nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Dennis Manthe.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, W6906 County Rd. K, Arlington, WI. A visitation will take place at the church from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, as well as, one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
