Obituary

DeForest – Gerald Lloyd Olson, age 76, passed away after a short illness at the Madison VA Hospice. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd “Dick” and Jane Olson; grandparents, Hans and Jessie Olson and Richard and Jessie Lewis; and numerous aunts and uncles; and a cousin, Lois Bredeson. He is survived by brothers, Lynn (Linda), Dale, Daniel (Patty), Duane, Mark (Chickie), and Brian; sisters, Janice and Diane; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. A special thanks to the VA ER and VA ICU department and VA Hospice unit as well as to the Villa at Middleton Village for their wonderful care of Gerald. To the brothers and sisters of Gerald Olson; our sincere condolences to your family and friends. Gerald proudly served with A Troop of the 11th Armored Cavalry in 1969. An honorable and respected Trooper, it was our honor to have him in the ranks of The Legendary Blackhorse Regiment. Our loss is that of another brother down, who we respectfully salute this day. Grant him comfort O Lord, and take him to your heavenly home. As our Liturgy tells us, his life has not ended, merely changed. As we were together together then in Vietnam, may we be together again in the life hereafter. Chaplain Bill and The 11th Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia.
