Obituary
DeForest – Albert “Al” F. Haack, age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Home Again Assisted Living in Columbus, WI. He was born in Madison, WI, on September 21, 1937, the son of Arnold and Teresa (Schilt) Haack. Al graduated from DeForest High School in 1956. He joined the United States Navy and served from 1956 to 1960. He married the love of his life, Lorraine “Kim” Brausen, on September 23, 1961, at St. Olaf Catholic Church.
Al enjoyed hunting, horseshoes, softball, bowling, gambling, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Al is survived by his children, Michael (Mary) Haack, Lisa (Steven) Schleicher, Patrick (Karen) Haack, and Paul (Jacqueline) Haack; grandchildren, Samantha (Zachery Zander) Haack, Gwendolyn (Jacob Ziegler) Haack, Natalie (Keith) Dohm, Aaron (Peyton Simon) Schleicher, Mitchell (Kaylyn) Schleicher, Connor (Lydia) Schleicher, Lacey (Carson Haag) Schleicher, Nicholas Schleicher, Jacob Schleicher, Nicole Haack, Dylan Haack, Carly Haack and Jenna Haack; siblings, Anna (Ron) Brewer, Howard Haack, Arlene (Randy) Phillips, Dennis Haack, and Frank (Donnell) Haack; and in-laws, Lucille Haack, Edward (Janet) Brausen and Janice Ellingson. Further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim Haack; parents, Arnold and Teresa Haack; siblings, Richard Haack, Nancy (Jerry) Pfeil, Donna (Russ) Broge, Sharon (Claude) Hysell, Teresa (Marvin) Morgan and Elmer Haack; and sisters-in-law, Delores Haack and Priscilla Haack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Jefferson St., DeForest, with Fr. Jared Holzhuter presiding. A visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Catholic Cemetery.
