Madison –

William A. Stacy, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. Bill was born on October 6, 1944 in Stambaugh, Michigan, the son of Ray and Esther (Sironen) Stacy. He was raised near Schenectady, New York and later attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, where he graduated in 1966.

Bill enjoyed a 33 year career as an auditor with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue in Madison. He was an avid sports fan who backed the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and the Madison Mallards.

He is survived by three nephews, Jeff of Oxford, WI, Shawn (Christy) of Brooksville, FL and Brian (Kara) of Lombard, IL; great-niece and nephews, Trevor, Samantha and Nathan; and his cousin, Ray (Mina) Hill, who has been a close family member. Bill would like to thank the Warner Park Community Center and all the special friends he met there over the years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walt.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Bridge at Warner Park or to Gilda’s Club.

Willie was one of my best friends. We shared the same birthday & went for 'tinis every year on our special day when we worked @ DOR. Spring training games in Arizona & countless more Mallards ones in Wisconsin. He & Walt let me stay @ their home when I visited Madison. We shared some great times. This sad news was unexpected & hit me hard. I will miss him terribly.

Warren and I knew Bill from our days with the DOR in Madison. We lost track of him when we moved to Milwaukee but the memories of the fun times we shared remain. Sorry for the loss of Bill. Sandy Arndt

I worked with Bill a good share of those 33 years at Revenue. It was always a pleasant experience every time we would meet. We also shared some enjoyable social Revenue outings. He is someone l will never forget. Paul Nelson

I was Bill and Walt's dentist for many years in Madison. So you can imagine the stories over the years, updated every 6 months. Bill was a true gentleman and was one of the kindest souls I ever met. For a time, we sat near the brothers at Wisconsin Men's Basketball games. Their smiles made the world better place.
