Obituary
Madison, WI – Marrianne Jean Culbertson, age 85, passed away on June 28, 2023 at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge Health. She was born on July 30, 1937 in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Leonard and Dorothy (Kilian) Peschel.
Marrianne graduated from Madison Central High School in 1955 and the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1958. She initially worked as a social worker for the state of Wisconsin. After college she became a CPA and practiced public accounting in Maryland and Ohio, raising three sons as a resident of Shaker Heights, OH. She was a proud member of the American Women’s Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Ohio Society of CPAs. She served as controller of Oakwood Club in Cleveland Heights, OH for almost 20 years. She was a lifelong Wisconsin Badgers fan.
Marrianne is survived by her children John (Andrea) Culbertson and their children Claire, Spencer, and Andrew Culbertson; William (Mary) Culbertson and their children Will and Chris Culbertson; and Tom Culbertson (Sarah Longstreth) and their child Owen Longstreth. She is further survived by her sister Karen Schreiber, sisters-in-law Charlene Peschel and Nikki Peschel, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Doris Ann Peschel, Ronald Peschel, Charles Peschel, Dr. Richard Peschel, and brother-in-law Tom Schreiber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Oakwood Foundation, University of Wisconsin Foundation, or to the Meriter Foundation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison WI, with Fr. Bill Nolan presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
