New Glarus - Lucille Rachel Romano, age 94, passed away on September 1, 2023 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. She was born on December 4, 1928 in Madison, WI to parents William and Margaret (Payne) Schmitz. Lucille graduated from Central High School. Lucille married John P. Cuccia in 1948 and they were blessed with three children. She later married Ben J. Romano in 1971. During her working years, she worked at Manchesters, Hilldale Bank, Century Store, as well as, selling Avon. She was an Elvis fan and an avid reader. She will be remembered as a loving mom and grandma.
Lucille is survived by daughter, Kathy Lemrise (Jim Steiner); son, Tony Cuccia; grandchildren, Aimee Lemrise (Jay Weichmann), Nicolle (Tim) Herbsleb, Lucy (Jason) Glover; great-grandchildren, Mark Eyre, Katlin Eyre, Kelsey Attleson, and Madi Cuccia; sister-in-law, Lorraine Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Romano; former husband, John Cuccia; son, Paul J. Cuccia; siblings, Doris M. Russo, William L. Schmitz Jr., Robert G. Schmitz; and uncle, Leslie Payne.
