Obituary
DEFOREST – Jacquelyn A. Showers, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Jackie was born on January 4, 1936, in Madison, WI to Rex and Beatrice (Cooper) Cota. She worked in the DeForest School system for many years before her retirement. Jackie enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, jigsaw puzzles and playing board games. Jackie was lovingly known as Grandma Jelly Bean.
Jackie is survived by her children, Randy (Donna), Ronnie (Renee), Mark (Jane), David (Pamela) and Todd (Donna); grandchildren, Krista (Dane) Kittelson, Eric (Jessica), Nichole, Melissa (Shawn) O’Brien, Courtney, Dana, Brian (Brandi), Brandon, Anthony (Courtney), and Sarah (John) Wagner; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Gary (Eileen) Cota; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; special niece, Joni. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, William; sisters, Jeanne (Donald) Schrader and Wendy Cota.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 S. Main Street, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the church. Burial at Norway Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice and Christina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DeForest Community Center and Christ Lutheran Church.
