Obituary
Mr. One Singvongsa, age 74, was born on January 1st, 1949, to Mr. and Mrs. Khamkiam in Poung Dig village, city of Muang Yeurg, state of Kwiang Houa Phanh in the country of Laos. Mr. One Singvongsa had five siblings, three sisters and two brothers. Three of his siblings have passed away, but two are still living. Both of Mr. One Singvongsa’s parents passed away around the same time, when he was only two months old. He then was adopted by his uncle San Kwan.
At age 15, Mr. One Singvongsa voluntarily joined the military. He was trained in Thailand to become a soldier and he wanted to support and fight for his country. He served as a second lieutenant and fought at many locations for the north and south of Laos. In 1970, Mr. One Singvongsa was married to Mrs. Thaene Singvongsa. At the end of the communist regime in 1975, Mr. One Singvongsa took a test in the city of Vang Vieng to become a teacher, in order to support his family.
His family later escaped from Laos to a refugee camp in Thailand in 1985 and then transferred to a camp in the Philippines shortly after. In 1986, Mr. One Singvongsa, his wife, and five children immigrated to the city of Chicago under The Refugee Act of 1980, with the help of his sister and brother-in-law.
Mr. One Singvongsa and Mrs. Thaene Singvongsa have 5 children together: Bounthong, Phayvanh, Bouasavanh, Sondy and Thongsy. The family had expanded and Mr. One Singvongsa and his wife were blessed with 12 grandchildren.
