Charles Johnson

Madison- Charles “Chuck” W. Johnson (Superman), age 86, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, with family by his side. Chuck’s nickname was Superman because he beat all the odds against him in the last four years. He was born on August 20, 1937, in Madison, the son of Palmer and Kathryn (Hanson) Johnson.

Chuck enjoyed fishing, woodworking and loved playing Euchre, but most of all he loved being with his devoted wife, Jeannine, that he worshipped for forty years and also being with his family. Chuck had the best sense of humor and always made people laugh, he was loved by everyone. Chuck was always happy and never complained, he had the most beautiful soul and always lit up the room everywhere he would go. The nurses at the hospital loved him and they would fight over him to be his nurse.

Chuck was survived by his wife, Jeannine Johnson, Son, Scott Johnson, three stepchildren; Sharon Rolff, Scott Rolff and Julie Gehrke, Grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Gary and sister Joanne.

Per Chuck’s wishes a small family memorial service with full military honors will be held.

Chuck, you will forever be in our hearts, and we will forever miss you and your loving smile and laughter. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. We love you so much and you will be missed!
