MIDDLETON, WI/SAVANNA, IL – Robert E. Bowers, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Fitchburg, WI at the Agrace Hospice Center.

Bob was born on December 28, 1958, the beloved son of Robert L. and Eunice M. (Ritchie) Bowers. He graduated in 1977 from Savanna High School where he excelled in sports lettering in basketball, football, and track.

Bob had a dedicated 37-year career working for the Railroad. He was employed by the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, and Canadian Pacific Railway. His employment began in the track department, he moved to the bridge and building department as a carpenter and later became a bridge foreman.

Bob enjoyed fishing, deer hunting with friends and was an avid sports fan following the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He especially enjoyed watching March Madness basketball.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert. He is survived by his cherished mother Eunice who recently celebrated her 101st birthday. Bob also leaves behind his two sons, Steven and James, and his caring sister Joan Kriehn.

Bob will be dearly missed by the many friends he made at The Jefferson in Middleton along with his devoted friend and caregiver, Keith Popp.

We thank the reliable Agape team at The Jefferson who assisted Bob during his declining health.

We further extend a special thank you to Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care.

A visitation will take place at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A private burial service will take place in Lisbon, Iowa.

Bob was a great guy. Played various sports with him while growing up in Savanna. Class of '77 was a blast. Our basketball team in high school didn't rack up victories, but racked up memories! Deepest sympathy to all his family. You are in my prayers. Tim Cordes
