I grew up around the corner from Joni. This is what she wrote in her 9th grade yearbook at Van Hise which I suspect is very reflective on how she lived her life. "Grandma Mitchell plans to go to college and major in Dramatics and have an apartment with a lot of kids. She loves riding in cars with "great guys and good friends" and going to the skating rink. Her favorite class is English and she was the "active" president of the Pep club. She participated in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and helped with the dances. Her pet peeves are Mike Stats in a bad mood, the regulation of boy-girl relationships in the hall and the IMC." My condolences to family and friends.

Jon, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Joni. I will never forget her beautiful smile, dancing eyes, great laugh, and long pretty hair. Joni was one of the original "DL Girls". She fit right in with her gifts of loving to have fun, sing, dance, nature, camp fires, and laughing . . . and boy did we laugh. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. - Marj Wall
