Obituary
DeForest/Lodi – Daniel “Butch” L. Waters Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in DeForest on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was born in Madison, WI., on May 17, 1951, the son of Robert “Windy” and Beatrice (Hornbeck) Waters, and was known as his mother's “only rose”. Butch lived his life on the edge and his own terms. He was an owner/operator truck driver for 45 years, traveling the countryside. Butch had great memory from all his time on the road and loved every minute of it. He knew every exit, mile marker, truck stop and good place to eat in the country. Butch was great at verbal Judo. He had a one liner for everything and could banter about anything with anybody. He was a fighter and certainly defied all odds with his health conditions over the years.
Butch is survived by his son, Dann (Lori) Waters Jr.; grandchildren, Dylann Waters, Duane (Kayla) Wedler, and Danielle (Ben) Shull; four great grandchildren; seven sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Windy and Bea.
A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held at a later date. Thank you to Butch’s neighbor, Judy Smith, for always keeping an eye out for him and to Jon, Angie and Alyssa for their special friendship and inclusion in their family. Special thanks to the DeForest Emergency Services, Dr. Ranum and the staff at SSM Dean Clinic in Waunakee. I would also like to personally thank Kathy for all the time she has put in to try and allow my dad to live the best life he could.
