Obituary

Marie F. Post, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at All Saints Assisted Living. She was born on September 21, 1925, in Madison, WI to parents Adolf and Alma Post. After graduating from Central High School in Madison, her career involved working for the state of Wisconsin as a data entry specialist up until her retirement. Marie enjoyed retirement for over 35 years.

Lovingly known by many as "Aunt Marie". She was a kind soul who enjoyed many friends throughout her life. In her younger years Marie enjoyed bowling and traveling to tournaments with her friends. In her later years she ventured out with her nieces, nephew, and great nieces on vacations or a day hike at Devil's Lake. Marie cherished her time spent at the family cottage on Lake Wisconsin, spending afternoons on the lake, enjoying family dinners, and sitting around the campfire at night. She was generous with her time and touched many lives in a giving way. Marie will be greatly missed because "Life Ends, Love Does Not”.

Marie is survived by sister, Evelyn Gallagher; nieces and nephews, Debbie (Luke) Vaccaro, Pam Gallagher, Phyllis (Greg) Porter, Mike Gallagher (Zoe); grand nieces, Tia (Ross) Mussehl, Morgan Vaccaro (Tyler) and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy; two brothers, Larry and Jerry; brother-in-law, Stan Gallagher, and longtime Companion, Ed Schroeder.

Family would like to thank All Saints Assisted Living for their love, support, and friendship over the years.

A Mass of Catholic burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 12, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Avenue, Madison, WI with Msgr. Kevin Holms officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.

My sincere sympathy in the passing of Aunt Marie. A long life well lived. Marie's remarkable giving to her family was always heartfelt. Her kindness and love of her niece Theresa will never be forgotten. Their cheery conversations and chuckles. Now they are together in heaven. I wish you all the best to get through this sad time. Marie was fun to play euchre with at All Saints Senior Apartments. She was a good euchre player, but would lament that she could not get any good cards.
