Obituary

Madison - Romaine Ardell Wincapaw passed away peacefully at Madison Point Senior Living on Thursday, February 1st 2024 at the age of 97.

She is survived by her four children Gail (Vic) Taugher, Libby (Bob) Weiler, Penny Schultz, and Jeff (Dana) Wincapaw; her grandchildren Nicole, Jenny, BG, Aaron, Lindsey, Melissa, Tim, Ryan, Sarah, and Isabel; and her great grandchildren Amber, Emily, Trenton, Isaac, Ashton, Isabella, and Ixety.

She is preceded in death by the love her life, Melvin Wincapaw. They were happily married for 73 years. They dedicated their entire life to their family.

Romaine’s children and extended family loved her beyond what words can say. She spent her life devoted to family—never missing birthdays, parties, holidays, and kept in touch with letters and everyday phone calls to make sure her “children” were happy. Her love of family was present in her thoughts and prayers and it showed in everything she did. She was one of a kind.

To Romaines' Family, My sincerest sympathy to the entire Wincapaw family in the passing of your mother. I remember her and the entire family with such fond memories we had as neighbors in oconomowoc. Back in high school (Oconomowoc) I was good friends with Libby. I absolutely could be myself at their home. One afternoon, Libbey Gail and I were watching Bandstand. As we danced, laughed, sang, little did we know their Mom had joined us! She was ageless, so spirited and generous. Her integrity and open mind plus amorous spirit were holy gifts to all of us.
