Obituary
MCFARLAND – Robert Owen “Bob” Sorenson, age 78, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Meriter Hospital with his family by his side. Bob was born on May 25, 1945, to Francis O. and Viola V. (Farris) Sorenson. In 1964, Bob graduated from Edgerton High School. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard. Bob was united in marriage to Cleo N. Kiergaard in Madison, WI, on June 6, 1986. For more than 30 years he was a very proud, dedicated and trusted employee at Wisco Industries in Oregon, WI.
Bob had a pretty hard outer shell. He was not one who verbally shared his emotions or affection. Bob did however show his feelings of love and friendship in person by being a very caring, loyal and dependable man who was always willing to lend a hand. Bob had many hobbies and interests throughout his life including archery, hunting, fishing, woodworking, photography, bowling, auto racing, building models and model railroading with his sons, birdwatching and spending time with his wife Cleo and her green thumb in their beautiful yard. His most notable hobby and passion for more than 40 years was as a proud member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He shared this love with his son Bob who was also a member.
He is survived by his wife Cleo; sons Robert P. (Tanya) and Edward J Sorenson; step-son Steven Kiergaard; brother Dave (Connie) Sorenson; sisters Linda Santos, Patricia Clark, and Virginia (Rick) Skare; grandchildren Danica “Bee” Sorenson and Cassie Kiergaard; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Henry John; sister Susan Hoffman; brothers-in-law Clint Hoffman, Howard Santos and Phil Clark.
A visitation will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave., on Thursday February 15, 2024, from 4-6pm followed by a short memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Bob’s name.
