Obituary
Gene Gibbs, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Gene was born on February 28, 1941, to Roy and Doris (Maginnis) Gibbs in Portage, WI. He married Eileen Perrett in 1967 and they enjoyed 56 years together.
Gene graduated from Cambria-Friesland High School in 1959 and Spencerian College in Milwaukee, WI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1963. Following graduation, he served three years in the Army during the Vietnam War. Over the years, Gene was employed by Gisholt Machine Company (Madison, WI) and Ryan Incorporated Central (Janesville, WI) as an accountant. Gene retired in 2006 from the Prairie du Sac Post Office where he worked for 24 years as a Postal Clerk.
Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to Wisconsin Badger football games and playing cards (especially poker, euchre, dirty clubs, and sheepshead) and won “a few bucks” from time to time. He cherished his children and grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his wife; children, Ann (Kent), Paul (Jamie), and Shelly; grandchildren, Eric (Kassy), Morgann, Tayler, Rebekah, Blake, Ethan, Ashlyn, Andrew, Cade, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Aidan, Gianna, and many relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna and nephew Daniel.
A Celebration of Gene's Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday February 26, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, Madison, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Memory Garden.
