Timothy Becker

October 14, 1950 - April 23, 2024

Obituary

Deforest - Timothy J. Becker, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his home of natural causes on April 23, 2024. Tim was born on October 14, 1950 in Madison, Wi the son of Byron and Kay Becker.

Tim graduated from UW Platteville where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural
Sciences. While at Platteville, Tim was a 5k record setter on the track team and he went on to win numerous races around Wisconsin throughout his life. He also spent countless hours biking long distances on his two wheeled companion, another passion of his.

Tim worked at Oscar Mayer in the Sanitation Dept. for over 20 years. His real love was raising his grass fed beef cattle who he truly devoted his life to, making them his first priority. He was happiest at home on his farm, growing his own food and living off the land. He never tired of being outdoors and enjoying his surroundings.

Tim often opened his home for family gatherings where many happy, fun filled memories were made. If any one of us, especially his parents, needed help with anything, Tim was there ready and willing to lend a hand.

Tim is survived by his siblings, John (Elizabeth) Becker, Joanne (Craig) Yapp, Sara (Bill) Marks, Kathy (Don Marvin) Foley, Tom (Alice) Becker, many beloved nieces and nephews, friends, relatives and 7 beef cattle whom he considered his family.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Kay, and his sister Mary (Bill Mabis).

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Tim’s honor at St. Peter Catholic Church at 5001 N. Sherman Ave on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11am. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the service. Lunch will be served following the service. A private burial will take place with his family at a later date.

Tim will be remembered for his sense of humor, his unpretentious style, simple way of living and enjoying each day in his own way. We loved him for those qualities. Our hearts are heavy as we say good bye to our loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. We will miss you each and every day…Thanks for all the great stories you left us with to never forget you.

Til we meet again….“Top o’ the mornin’ to ya”

Tim helped train me in sanitation at Oscar Mayer. He showed me a couple tricks of the trade. He did that w/o getting anything for it. We did know each other previous to that. His help made my job much easier and faster, that way we could get to the card table, during work hours, lol. Thank you Tim!

Condolences to Tim's family. I can't say that Tim and I were best friends, but I still remember days at Lakeview Park playing basketball with the gang. Tim's dry wit and sense of humor were always worth the bike ride from my neighborhood. I still recall the great games and stories that went with them. Tim was never mean spirited but you never wanted to be under the hoop trying to get a rebound from him and his subtle elbows. 60 years ago and I can almost picture them like they were yesterday. Rest well, "Bakes." Rick Knoche
