Fern Maas

Wyocena – Fern R. Maas, age 88, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Columbia Health Care Center. She was born on January 8, 1936, in Portage, Wisconsin to parents Richard and Frieda (Kent) Scherbert.

Fern married her former husband Robert Glenn Frame in 1954, raising their 6 children together. Fern then married Paul Maas in 1978. Paul and Fern belonged to the Flying Farmers of America, traveling in his plane to different events. Fern even took the title as the “Flying Farmers Queen” for a year. Fern enjoyed the many trips she went on to Australia, Costa Rica, Germany, and an Alaskan cruise. When not hosting parties and family gatherings she was busy on the farm taking care of the many animals she had such as the llamas, goats, cows, dogs, and many cats.

Fern is survived by her children Robert Frame, Steven Frame (Jeff Rolwes), James Frame, Paul Frame, Katherine (Richard) Hasse; daughter in-laws Mary Hanson Frame and Teresa Frame; grandchildren Nicholas (Michelle) Frame, Mitchell Frame (Maame Adomako), Tracy (Chris) Blajeski, Andrew Frame, Alan Frame, Stefanie Hasse, Rosalie Cardarella, and Anna Cardarella(Andrew Sailing). great-grandchildren Bryce, Max, & Charlotte Frame, Mason & Teagan Blajeski; and Jasmine Carter, Jackson, Charlotte, Owen and Matthew Sailing. Sisters Della Dumke and Betty Kottka; and by her former husband Robert Glenn Frame; and by her husband Paul’s kids Jane Folstad, Karen McDonough, Donna Dunphy, Brenda Cornwell, and Mike Maas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Maas; daughter Tammy Frame; and daughter-in-law Louise Frame; and by her eight siblings Carl, Ralph, Mary, Eddie, Clara, Gladys, Richard, and Martha.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A private interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Wisconsin.
