Obituary

Verona- Sharon P. Meyer, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1943, to Thomas and Lucille (Smith) Peterson in Jefferson, WI. Sharon grew up in Jefferson and graduated from High School in 1961 and then went on to complete 2 years of college at MATC.

After graduation she was asked by the Jaycees to be in the Miss America Preliminary Pageant and came in 5th place. This was a wonderful experience that she carried for the rest of her life. Sharon moved to Madison and worked at First Federal Savings & Loan on State Street. She worked at and retired from Oscar Mayer/ Kraft Foods after 28 years.

After retiring Sharon volunteered for 30 organizations and benefits in Madison and Florida. She also made 35 quilts and Afghans for the homeless in Madison. Sharon crocheted 28 teddy bears for the “toys for tots” and for the Children’s Hospital at Christmas in Florida.

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Kelli Meyer of Verona, Karin Meyer of Waunakee, she loved them dearly and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Sharon also has a grandson, Nicholas Porter of Waunakee; a brother, Brad (Kathy DeMars) Peterson of Mesa, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Janet (Peterson) Kutz; and grandson, Ryan Carter, all of which she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

It is so sad that we lose contact with people that we knew and shared good times with when we were young and through our high school years.
