David Schulenberg

David "Dave" Raymond Schulenberg, 78, of Pardeeville, WI passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at U.W Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born August 16, 1945, in Madison. Devoted second son to Frank Schulenberg and Josephine E (Worringer) Schulenberg of Madison. He graduated Madison East High School in 1963 and married his high school sweetheart, Monya Marie Volk, in 1965. Dave and Monya were married 59 years and were blessed with 2 children: Daniel (Heather) Schulenberg of Burlington WI and Rachel Sadogierski of Portage. Later came their sole grandchild Josephine Sadogierski of Portage.

Dave had 30 years of service at UW Madison as a mechanician before retiring. Dave had a knack for fixing things and would always show up to lend a helping hand whether it was a broken-down snowmobile, boat or car. His fixes could be creative at times when there wasn't much to work with but were always safe and "got you where you needed to go."

Dave had many hobbies throughout his life, but they were all avenues to what he loved most; being with family and friends, good food, good tunes and big laughs. Dave was the master of bullshittin'... pretty sure he would tell you he invented it.

In his later years he most looked forward to his annual fishing trips to the lake with the guys and being a loving grandfather. He stepped into that role with gusto and was always there to show support and make a point to show his granddaughter Josephine how proud he was of her accomplishments.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.

A celebration of life will be held Friday May 31, 2024 from 2-6pm at Ryan Funeral Home on North Sherman Ave in Madison WI. A private requiem mass and internment will be held at a later date.
