Obituary

May Fong To Pun was born in Shanghai, China on October 5, 1929 to a family of 10 and married into a family of Kuomitang General. After the Communist Revolution in 1949, she escaped with her first born son to Hong Kong where she raised a family of 6 children. She immigrated to the United States in 1972 to give her children a better life. She was an accomplished cook who enjoyed making delicious meals and was a fan of the Shanghai opera and playing mahjong. May Fong was survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. May Fong was a loving mother and devoted wife who was loved by her family and friends.

May Fong was known for her kindness and generosity, always putting others before herself. She had a warm smile and a gentle heart that made everyone around her feel loved and cared for. May Fong will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

May Fong passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and courage that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, WI. A Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

My beloved grandmother, You will be greatly missed. You have imparted so much knowledge through your loving, caring, and generous heart. Your life was devoted to your children and their families. You never passed judgment and always saw the good in everyone. One of my fondest memories is when you cared for Phoenix during her toddler years. She sat in your recliner while you sat on her red plastic toddler chair, feeding her congee. Thank you for all your wise words. Every moment you spent with her, teaching her valuable lessons and showering her with love, is priceless. Your presence brought a sense of warmth and comfort to our lives, and your absence will be deeply felt. Your wisdom and kindness will continue to guide us, and we will always hold you close in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear grandmother, knowing that your legacy of love and compassion lives on in all of us.

I will always remember how I hid behind her to escape a well-earned spanking when I was very little. We knew her as Tse-ma and thought she was our aunt since she was so close to our mom. May they both be watching down on us together forever. Wai-Yuen (Mari)
