Obituary
Bradford S. (Brad) Kunz died June 29, 2024, suddenly at home at the age of 74. Brad was a loving and caring husband and friend to many and came home from work or golf with a smile on his face, happy of his interaction with friends, colleagues and clients. He was an easy going, happy go lucky person that people were comfortable with and made many lifelong friends.
Brad was born on June 1, 1950, in Fort Knox, Kentucky to K. Stuart and Nancy Bob (Robertson) Kunz. On June 1, 1990, he married Kathleen (Katie) Leppek at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Madison, WI.
Brad was an “Army Brat” and spent time living in England, Germany, California, Florida, and Kentucky before settling in Pewaukee, Wisconsin in his youth. He and his family were members of the Pewaukee Yacht Club and sailed/raced E-boats at Pewaukee area lakes. Brad graduated from Pewaukee High School in 1968. He served in the Airforce from 1969-1972 with an honorable discharge and earned an associate degree in land surveying from Madison Area Technical College in 1975. He was an office furniture sales representative for Rowley-Schilmgen Inc., which later became Atmosphere Commercial Interiors.
Brad enjoyed sailing, waterskiing, cross-country skiing, snow skiing, golf, City League Volleyball, City League Baseball as a catcher, bowling and golf. Brad would spend a week at a Lake Michigan beach in northern Michigan every summer and at multiple ski resorts out west with his wife and her family. In Brad’s retirement he audited classes each semester at UW-Madison. His golf buddies kept him busy along with two daily walks accompanied by k-9 companion Mari.
He is survived by his loving wife Katie, sister Diane, and nephews Alex and Max Kunz, sons of Robert Kunz along with in-law siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert (Bob) Kunz.
Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, July 10th at The East Side Club, 3735 Monona Drive at 4:00 pm. Special thanks to City of Madison Fire Station 10 at Northport and Troy Dr for their quick response and professional care.
Brad, with your face in the sun, let your soul guide you on.
