Mike was a good friend, coach, and a person who continued to amaze me despite his physical limitations. He coached my daughters in basketball and spent many days with our family. One memory that always brings a smile to my face was an evening at the batting cage at Vitense. The girls were on the softball team and we stopped by for some practice. After the girls finished, Mike picked up the bat and proceeded to hit every ball pitched to him. Afterwards, I smiled, shook my head and asked, "Mike how, with one eye and little or no depth perception, can you hit the ball like that?" Mike smiled that crooked smile of his and said, "No one ever told me I couldn't, so I learned how." That was Mike. May you rest in peace my friend.

I know a small portion of Michael's life from conversations with Maureen. Michael was lucky to have many people who loved him both during his life and when he left his family and friends. ... ... Losing someone is always tragic, especially so when the loss is a child. Michael was a child to Steven, Maureen, and Regina regardless of his age. No parent should ever have to live through the loss of a child, but unfortunately, this happens. ... ... When I lost someone my Father offered these words of support and condolence to me, which I now pass on to you. ... ... "Each day, a little easier" ... ... Ron Gollonik
