Stephen Caldwell

MADISON - Stephen D. Caldwell, age 78, passed away at his home in Madison on July 16, 2024, after a year-long battle with numerous medical issues. Steve was born in Madison and spent his childhood in Beaver Dam, graduating from Beaver Dam High School. While a student in economics at the UW-Madison he began working in 1971 for the UW Department of ADP, which later became DoIT. He started as a computer operator, then advanced to programmer and analyst for the Registrar. His last position was with the UW Mail Team as senior analyst for all email iterations.

Survivors include: Judi Werner, his mate of 51 years; and his sister Susan Caldwell Nelson and nephew Alexander Nelson. Other survivors include: Peter and Mary Werner, Lauren Hastings and family, and Amy Agnihotri and family.

A service to remember Steve and celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Rd, Madison, WI. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Save the Children’s Fund or a charity of your own choosing.
