Obituary
Monona – Charles “Chuck” H. Ripp, age 85, passed away on August 13, 2024, at the Cottages of Madison. He was born on July 15, 1939, in Cross Plains, Wisconsin to parents Leonard and Annetta (Little) Ripp and was one of twelve children.
Chuck met the love of his life Maureen in 1958, and they married that same year. Shortly after, they moved to Arizona before moving to California. After 6 years in California, they moved back to Wisconsin to raise their family. Over the next few years, they built a home together to continue raising their family. That family expanded in 1990 with the birth of their first grandchild.
Chuck was a jack of all trades from driving a truck at Vita-Pakt, maintenance at Ella’s Deli, bus driver for Sun Prairie Schools, and back door manager at the Coliseum. The majority of his career was with the State of Wisconsin in various roles from Hill Farms state office building to being a warehouse manager at the DOT.
In Chuck’s spare time he enjoyed playing cards, calling bingo, and entertaining his family and friends with his DJ music at various venues in and around Madison.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Maureen (Connelly); daughter Theresa (Dave) Sandmire, son Brian Ripp; grandchildren Brittany (Chris), David (Kait), and Tyler Sandmire; and by his beloved dog, Madie. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Boys Town https://www.boystown.org/ or Brighton Hospice https://brightonhospice.com/.
A special thank you to Brighton Hospice and to his nurses Sandy, Gio, Tanya, Angela, Nancy, and Monique for their loving care.
