The brightest smile has been dimmed, Mary J. Fuller (Vultaggio), age 93, passed away on October 16, 2024. Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to Robert D. Fuller for 69 years and they had three children, Robert, Marie, and James. Mary and Robert “Sonny” owned the Wingra Canoe and Sailing Center for 40 years. Mary loved to tap dance, even at 90 years old, she was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Mary and Sonny lived part time in Largo for many years.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Madison's Greenbush neighborhood and she held her Italian heritage close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Maria Vultaggio; her husband, Robert; son-in law, Fred Woerpel; daughter-in-law, Sandy Fuller; grandson, Travis Wiersma; and her sisters and brothers.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert, Marie (partner, Al Singer) Woerpel and James; her grandchildren, Lora (fiancé, Dan Kemper) Woerpel, Megan (Sergio) Vilchiz, Dakota (Kaylee Meisinger) Wills and Seth Wiersma; and great grandchildren, Christian Woerpel, Arianna and Gabriel Vilchiz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy, Madison, with Father Andrew Showers officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Memory Care and Agrace Hospice for taking care of Mom.
