Obituary
MADISON/FITCHBURG – Katharine E. Waggener, age 91, passed away, peacefully, into her next journey on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A Kansas farm girl, transplanted to Wisconsin through marriage, she was strong in family and faith. Kathy was a nursing instructor at the University of Madison. A smart, resilient, and compassionate wife and mother, she loved gardening, fall colors, and had a love of small adventures like a hot air balloon ride, riding in a golf cart through beautiful gardens and trips out west.
Kathy loved to bring her family together for holidays and celebrations where food, love and laughter were always abundant. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wilson “Bud”; son, Wade; great grandson, Vaughn; and her brother Earl. She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Ron) and Carol; grandchildren, Jordan (Natasha) , Brint, and Westin (Sara); great grandchildren, Belle and Aria; and sisters, Karen and Phyllis.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4100 Nakoma Road, Madison.
