Obituary
MADISON, WI - William “Bill” Dale Scheffler passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at St Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Bill was born on April 30, 1953, in Burwell, NE to the late Dale Scheffler and Doris (Keeney) Scheffler.
Bill worked very hard his whole life, starting as a very young entrepreneur pulling his lawn mower behind his bike looking for customers. Later, he managed a Bishop’s Restaurant and was a footwear buyer for several Midwest shoe companies. For the last 30 years, Bill’s attention to detail and focus on operating efficiencies made him an invaluable asset in the transportation and distribution logistics business. He recently retired from Capital Express Final Mile Logistics, where his dedication and contributions will be sorely missed.
In keeping with the “Work hard, play hard” motto, Bill enjoyed meeting up with friends to share stories and spirits, which often involved cheering on his Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He traveled to many places throughout the United States over his lifetime, with a special fondness for beach or mountain destinations.
Bill is survived by his brother: Stephen (Laura Lea) Scheffler, nephew: Jeffrey (Sheri) Scheffler, niece: Heather Scheffler, great niece: Gina (Jay) Brose, great nephews: Logan Ligas and Bret Scheffler, and great niece: Suki Scheffler.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Dale and Doris Scheffler, and his grandparents: Carl and Anna Scheffler, and Jesse and Alice Marie Keeney.
Bill will always be remembered for his determination and hard work, his integrity, his kind heart, and for the way he lived life in his own way. Simply put, Bill was one of the good guys who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Agrace Hospice Care and to Bill’s great friends: Patty Borman, Pam Kinder, and Debbie Wendt.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Dr, Verona, WI, 53593. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with a memorial service at 7:30 pm.
