November 06, 1932 - December 11, 2024
Obituary
Verona- Donna Jean E. (Strassman) Wipperfurth, passed away at age 92, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. She was born on November 6, 1932, to Matilda and Alfred Strassman in Madison. Her schooling started out at the Andrew Henry one room schoolhouse, located outside of Verona, where she attended 1st-8th grade. She graduated from Verona High School in 1950.
Donna met her future husband when he came to the family farm to help a friend do his chores. Robert P. Wipperfurth took her hand in marriage on January 6, 1951, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Madison. Donna shared 67 years of marriage to Robert, until his passing in 2018.
They started a family and created seven children: Debra (Steve) Annen, David (Laurie), Douglas (Rita), Daryl (Mary Ripp), Daniel (Ginger), Denise (Glen) Nelson and Donna Lee (Gary) Burkeland. She has 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
After all the children were attending school, she joined the workforce outside the home with the Verona International Dealership as a bookkeeper. For most of her career, she worked at Oakwood Village West, retiring from there.
In retirement, she and Robert belonged to the Winnebago RV Club, enjoying campouts with new friendships they developed. She also enjoyed dancing the polka with Robert over the years, having the whitest whites of any laundry in the neighborhood and she also took pride in having all her children look put together.
Along with her children and many grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Duane (Lucy) Strassman. Her loved ones that preceded her in death were, her husband, Robert; her parents; her stepfather, Ted Veloff; her sister, Arlene (Jim) McNall and step grandson, Craig Burkeland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 2313 Flad Avenue, Madison. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church. Interment will follow at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Verona.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Inglehaven Assisted Living and her Agrace Hospice team.

Our sympathies to your family. Your Mom was a great friend of our parents, Bob and Betty Raemisch. Following their RV outings we would often hear Bob this or Donna that...confirming our parents were great friends. The beautiful written obituary tells of an active lady who enjoyed life and her family. In sympathy, Mary and Dave Raemisch

We Griese's have such fond memories of gatherings at Donna & Bob's when we were growing up. She & my mom were much alike in how they raised kids. Tough but nurturing. Now she is at peace. My condolences & big hugs to you all on your loss. Cindy (Griese) Meza
