Obituary

William J. “Bill” Thomas, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 28,1939 to Joseph and Florence (Frey) Thomas. Bill was in the Army from November 1961 to November 1963 and then went into the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in October 1967. He belonged to the American Legion POST, 501 Madison, WI.

Bill married Susan “Sue” Swan on March 19, 1966, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Bill retired from AT&T in 2000. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the casino and watching drag racing.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Tim Thomas, Paula Kufahl; granddaughter, Kelsie Kufahl; brother, Jim (Dee) Thomas, and nephew, Bryan Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for their loving care of Bill.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N Sherman Ave., Madison, WI. The visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.

Bill , Rest In Peace you deserve it. I will always remember all of squirrel hunting trips we did together. I miss you and say hi to mom and dad for me. I always looked up to you to when we were young. Things won't be the same with out you. Love Jim and Dee🎆
