Matthew Burroughs

Matthew “Matt” Aaron Burroughs, age 55, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on September 27, 1969, to John and Terry (Boatwright) Burroughs in Joliet, IL.

Matt attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX graduating in 1988 and then attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana and continued his master’s degree at Central Michigan University. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Sturgis, MI. Matt was a certified nursing home administrator in the state of Texas, as well as a cook in the US Army Reserves. He also was a dedicated HR manager in many manufacturing plants, pouring his heart and soul into the many lives he touched at work.

Matt loved to cook and spending time with family as well as camping, fishing video games and being a devoted father to his beloved son.

Matt married Jennifer Berisford on January 17, 2015, in Streetman, Texas and on April 10,2014 they had a baby boy, Aaron. In Matt’s free time he enjoyed camping, fishing, playing video games (especially Skyrim) and taking Aaron to scouts. Matt loved watching football and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan.

Matt is survived by his wife, Jennifer Burroughs; son, Aaron Burroughs; parents, John (Debra) Burroughs, Terry Burroughs; siblings, Jason (Madeline) Burroughs, Jeffery (Jason) Burroughs; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lindsey Burroughs and grandparents.

A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be held at a later date.
