Obituary
James Charles Horn, age 69, formerly of Pittsville, WI passed away on January 12, 2025. Jim Horn was born on October 27, 1955, to Leonard and Florence (Helgestad) Horn. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1973. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1975-1981 where he was a member of the Aerospace Team. Following his time of service, he attended Mid-State Technical College for instrumentation graduating in 1982. He married the love of his life Olga Ortega Monsalve on April 14, 2000. Together they were blessed with a son, Andrew Phillip Horn. Jim attended Natwick Grade School in Pittsville, WI where he started his lifelong friendships with two very special friends, Cole Dammann and Bill Glass. Jim worked at Marseilles Nuclear Power Plant in Marseilles, IL for 27 years. He enjoyed outdoors from the time he was a little boy growing up on a farm. Jim loved spending time with his son, especially taking him fishing at many different lakes. He also loved fishing with his brother Jerry on The Boundary Waters. Jim and his wife loved kayaking, cross-country skiing, and traveling together. Jim’s kind heart and unique spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Olga; son, Andrew; sisters Judi (Bill) Winch, Jackie (Russ) Henderson, and Julie (Dan) Vaughan; father-in-law Parmenio Ortega; brothers-in-law Jose Ortega and Miguel (Patricia) Ortega; sisters-in-law Mireya (Libardo) Gamboa and Marleny (Jaime) Segui; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Maria Alicia Monsalve; brothers Jerry and John Horn; and sisters Joyce Herzberg, Janice Bubolz, and Joanne Hahn.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Memorial Baptist Church in Verona, WI with visitation from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Pastor Jeremy Scott will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s YouTube Channel: Memorial Baptist Church Media - YouTube
