Verona, WI – Paul William Aas was born June 4, 1956 to Beverly and Lynn Aas in Fargo, North Dakota. He attended and graduated from Minot, North Dakota high school in 1974. Following high school Paul graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a degree in computer programming working in various companies in Minneapolis, Minnesota finally settling in with Electric Data Systems (EDS). He married Dorothy Pilju and they had one son, Brian. They later divorced and Paul moved to Madison, Wisconsin and continued to work for EDS. Paul joined Bethel Lutheran Church where he met Melodie Stranberg while they sang together in the choir. Paul and Melodie married in 2005 and were happily married until his death. Paul later joined the Bethel Handbell choir where Melodie was the director and they played there together for many years.

When not working Paul was a voracious reader. He remembered the plot of almost every book he ever read. Melodie and Paul loved working jigsaw puzzles together and they planted and tended large vegetable gardens and canned the results. Paul also loved snow and water skiing, sailing and traveling.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Terry. He is survived by his wife, Melodie, three brothers, David (Kathy), Daniel, Joseph (Nancy Morris). I worked with Paul for a few years at the Madison EDS account and remember his kindness and enthusiasm for life. He was so vivacious and talked joyfully about family adventures like your choir trip to Ireland and the Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. I am very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I recall vividly our first day of 1st grade in Minot at Edison Elementary. Paul's mother, Bev, was going to leave and Paul did not want her to go. They were in the coat rack area and I heard Bev say to Paul, don't worry, Shelly is here too. Odd memory but it left an impression for sure. The Summers family and the Aases lived across from each other on 7th Street for many years with a total of 8 boys between the 2 families. Rest in Peace Paul. Sending many prayers to the family.
