Obituary

Mary Jean Garrison, age 93, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. Mary was born on January 22, 1932, in Madison, WI to Michael and Gertrude (Flesch) Harrington. She raised three children while her husband served in the Air Force. Two of their children continued the tradition of military service. Catherine served in the Air Force, and Edward H. Garrison Jr., served in the Navy, and Ramona Gasser served as an educator in public schools. After the final military assignment in Germany, Mary began career at WPS. Mary touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Catherine (Jeffrey) Mattie, Ramona Gasser, and Edward Jr. (Teresa) Garrison; grandchildren, Derek (Azure) Mattie, Jason (Tarah) Mattie, Ryan (Naomi) Mattie, Alyssa (Bob) Schwab, Spencer Garrison, and Sierra Mattie; great grandchildren, Keaton Mattie, and Hayden Mattie; sister and best friend, Patricia Miller; and sister-in-law, Lila Harrington. She is further survived by other family and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Ed Garrison Sr; and siblings, Delores Harrington, Ron Harrington, and James (Mary Ellen) Harrington.

A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 2:00PM at RESURRECTION CATHOLIC CEMETERY, in the chapel, 2705 Regent Street, Madison.

Mary was the best friend to our Mom at Prairie Gardens. Mary was so kind and gentle and would always have great stories. Our Mom passed away in August 2024. Prayers and sympathy to your family!

I knew Mary for over 50 years. She raised 3 successful children in tough times and worked hard to become independent, which she did. I will always respect her for that and she will be missed. Rest in peace Mary. Jeff Mattie
