Obituary
Mary (Hoffman) Ripp, age 87, passed away peacefully at Parkside Assisted Living on March 6, 2025. Mary was born to Al & Theresa (Ballweg) Hoffman on August 17, 1937, in the town of Springfield. She attended St John's Catholic grade school and graduated from Waunakee High School in 1956. Mary married Roland “Rollie” Ripp on May 8, 1958, at St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee and after their marriage they moved to DeForest to farm and raise their family, she worked beside Rollie milking cows, feeding calves and gardening. Mary loved her flowers, whether it was a pretty vase of flowers or her flower beds, her church, taking the kids to 4-H events, homemakers, church choir, sports of all kinds, especially listening and watching her beloved Brewers, Packers and Badgers.
Mary is survived by her children Richard (Sue), Paul and Teresa (John) Strauss. Honorary grand and great grandchildren-Kyle, Kaitlyn (Chris), Karson (Molly), and Nicholas (Melissa). Aydin, Dominic, Lilly, Finleigh and Elliette. Her siblings Carolyn Hoffman-Davis, Maragaret (Alan) Kelsey, Steve (Kay) Hoffman, Don (Mary) Hoffman, Bill (Julia) Hoffman and Leo (Lori) Hoffman. Sister & brothers in law Romie Ripp, Jim (Mary Ellen) Ripp, Joan Cavanaugh, Eileen (Herb) Statz, Eugene Esser, Katie Ripp, Mary Finger, Bill (Carol) Ripp and Helen (Dennis) Radue. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Rollie, her parents, her mother and father-in-law, sister Janet and sisters and brothers in law Margie Ripp, David Cavanaugh, Jeff Davis, Margaret Esser, Joe Ripp and Jim Finger, special family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 14, 2025, at St Olaf's Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest, with Father Bala presiding. Visitation will take place at the Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2025, and again one hour prior to the Mass at the Church on Friday.
