Susan Frank

June 06, 1966 - March 10, 2025

Obituary

Susan Marie (Lewison) Frank, age 58, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 10, 2025, after nearly a two and a half year graceful and valiant battle with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. As always, Susan did not follow the predictable path and lived with love and strength for longer than the average expected time. But for anyone lucky enough to know her, we know that she was anything but average. Susan's final weeks and days were filled with love, music, hugs, hand squeezes, kisses and a lot of “I love yous.”

Susan made her debut in this world on June 6, 1966 (yes, 6/6/66), being welcomed by her parents M. John and Mary Beth (Jordan) Lewison in Madison, WI. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1984 and attended college at UW Whitewater. She pursued many passions with her bright mind but found a home in healthcare administration where she ultimately shined as a certified medical coder. Susan was brilliant with numbers and could easily memorize just about any medical code and its application, making her a valued member of the team at her beloved work home, Wildwood Clinic.

Susan met Perry Frank in 1991, telling her sisters that she met this crazy guy with a great smile that she thought would be fun to hang out with for the summer. That summer turned into a life of love! Susan and Perry were wed on July 26, 1997, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Madison. They were overjoyed to welcome two sons, Aaron and Evan, into their family. Susan loved, protected and cherished Perry and her sons.

Susan was probably one of the fastest thinking and talking people you could meet. She was an avid game player, whether that be crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, trivia contests, Tripoley or her continuous wins at game nights. You definitely needed to be on Susan’s team if you hoped to win. She was a collector of friends, easily striking up conversations and listening too. Everywhere she went, she made a friend because she was just so much fun, interesting and kind. Susan also really enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and, most of all, spending time with her family. Sunday dinners with her husband, sons, mother, siblings, niece and nephews brought her great joy. Susan happily hosted the whole group as often as she could and when she was not up to hosting any longer, she still attended every Sunday dinner.

Susan is survived by her husband of 27 years Perry; her sons Aaron (Sophia Hlavac) and Evan; mother Mary Beth; sister Andrea (Al Wilimovsky) Lewison; brother John (Beth Palacios) Lewison; sister Johanna (Tom) Young; niece and nephews Mary, Cameron and Ryan Young; and many extended family members as well a myriad of friends that were practically family.

Susan was preceded in death by her father M. John Lewison and her baby brother, Jamie.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at McFarland United Church of Christ, 5710 Anthony Street, McFarland, WI with Pastor Bryan Sirchio officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. A visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, Madison and then again from 10:30 AM until the time of service at church.

The family would like to extend a thank you to UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center, especially Dr. Sobecki.

Oh Susan, The support you offered me throughout my life will never be forgotten. Specifically the last 3 years. To know you loved me unconditionally, meant more than you'll ever know. To feel like family in times I had none. The texts of encouragement, support, and love was such a blessing. I'll cherish the times I was brave enough to drive alone to Wisconsin just to hang with my cousin Susan. We shared secrets and jokes, surrounded by wine. Such a kind soul, and always down for a good time. I will miss you so, love you! And yes- we "are still cousins". ❤️Ash
