MADISON – David Leroy Kolmodin, age 77, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, March 23, 2025. Dave was born on June 29, 1947, in Lockport, IL to Hilmer and Lois (Halberg) Kolmodin. He graduated from Lockport High School in 1965. Dave worked at Aquamatic for 30 years then moved to Cottage Grove, WI in May of 2004, where he started working for Hertz at the airport, as a supervisor. He retired on April 30, 2020. He was a troop leader for the South Beloit Boy Scouts, volunteer at South Beloit High School, and a longtime member of New Life Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Group.
Dave was an avid baseball fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. He spent summers at the Duck Pond cheering on the Mallards as well as working as a fowliner for several years. Dave took pride in attending his grandson’s baseball games from little league to college. He enjoyed his daily travels, with his granddaughter, from school and to work. Dave had so much pride in his son Paul, traveling to see him in Texas, as often as he could. They both shared a love of Superman and professional wrestling. Paul always referred to his dad as “his hero”.
