Donald Madsen

MADISON-Donald Madsen, age 66, passed away on April 9th, 2016 at his home after struggling with Alzheimer’s for nine years. Don was born in Appleton, WI, son of Daryl and Marian Madsen. Don attended and graduated from Neenah Senior High School. After graduation from Fox Valley Tech, Don served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era and was stationed in southern Italy. Don’s driven personality led him to earn a Bachelor’s degree at UW-Oshkosh, a Master’s degree at UW-Whitewater, and a MBA from UW-Madison.

Among others, Don worked at Nicolet Instruments for 10 years and Placon Corporation for 20 years. Don was an avid sports fan that followed all of Wisconsin’s college and professional teams. He was a devoted husband and father that enjoyed spending his free time by playing a variety of sports with all his children.

Don will be dearly missed and survivors include his wife Catherine of 44 years; his children Benjamin (Ann) of Auburn, Alabama, Michael of Madison, Wisconsin, Barbara (Eric) of West Bend, Wisconsin, and Patrick (Kelly) of Nacogdoches, Texas; grandchildren Margaret Kate, Logan, and Lydia; his mother Marian Madsen; seven siblings Nels (Gloria), Michael (Karen), Gary (Linda), Mark (Nina), Larry (Margo), Beth (Gary), and Amy; and many nephews and nieces. Don was preceded in death by his sister Barbara and father Daryl.

There will be a visitation at Ryan & Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, Verona Chapel, 220 Enterprise Drive, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Ave., at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 14, 2016, with Fr. Tafadzwa Kushamba presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30AM until the time of Mass on Thursday.
