George Josheff

MADISON – George Josheff, age 85, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Meriter Hospital, two days shy of his 86th birthday. Born and raised on Madison’s east side, he was the son of Van and Kalope Josheff. George graduated from Madison East High School, and then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he was stationed at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, GA. While at Moody he met and married Martha Vickers. After an honorable discharge at the ranking of Staff Sergeant, he began working for the City of Madison as an auto mechanic for the police department. George transferred to the fire department, in the late 70’s, where he retired as the maintenance supervisor after 42 years of City service. George was an avid gardener and a jack-of-all-trades.

George is survived by his three children, Susan of Madison, George (Brenda Klecker) of Marshall, Nancy (Paul) Schreiber of Waunakee; three grandchildren, Emily, Austin, and Jarrett Schreiber; and sister, Luba Gordon. He is also survived by 4 nieces, and 4 nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 53 years, and brother Steve.

A Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at ASSUMPTION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 11 North 7th Street, Madison. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of service on Wednesday at the church. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.
