Paule Miller

Verona/Kalamazoo, MI

Paule Miller , 91 passed away on May 1st at the home of her daughter in Madison WI, surrounded by family. She was born on December 19th 1924 in Saint Quentin, France. She came to Kalamazoo, Michigan in roughly 1945 and in her older years she relocated to Texas and later Wisconsin.

Paule was a French Professor at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan but was forced to retire early due to surgery for a brain tumor which left her blind. Years later after a second surgery for the same tumor, she grew 6 more. She lived another four years with these six tumors before passing on May 1st. In spite of her many health adversities, she lived a long wonderful life.

She was fun loving, resilient, kind and thoughtful to everyone. She had an artistic fling which she never talked about much but some might remember her gourmet dinner parties as works of art. She was admired for her intelligence and good heart and she loved her children fiercely and unconditionally as well as her dog Lucy. She was a shining star for sure and she lived an excellent life.

Children: Craig Hammack-Michigan, Bruce Hammack-Texas, Jacqueline Grande-Wisconsin. Step Children: Peter (Marylou) Miller-Ohio. Grandchildren: Dustin (Marika) Grande, Jason Hammack, Jennifer Hammack and Great Grandchildren Tayler and Krew. She is also survived by close friends in France as well as the US. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Miller and her parents Maurice and Marcelle Robert.

A special thanks to everyone on the Hospice team that made her final days more comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her favorite charity The Humane Society of your choice or to Home Health United, Hospice.

A celebration of her life will be held in Kalamazoo Michigan on June 3rd from 5:00pm-7:00pm
