Obituary
Geraldine “Jeri” (Hawke) Erickson (formerly Postweiler) passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin.
Jeri lived her life in rich, memorable chapters — each one shaped by strength of will, determination, courage, and a love of fun. Whether she was camping under the stars, water-skiing behind the Jeep, or holding her own on the racquetball court, she met life with enthusiasm and a sparkle in her turquoise-colored eyes.
She was proud of her accomplishments in banking, steadily climbing the career ladder to become a loan officer at First Wisconsin Bank. In an era when few women held such positions, she earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike — not just for getting the job done, but for doing it with heart, grace, and a contagious laugh that could brighten even the busiest day.
In her family chapter, Jeri filled her pages with laughter, euchre games, and family adventures that became part of her lasting legacy. Her favorite family scene was Christmas — she decked the halls with enthusiasm, cooked enough to feed an army, and made sure no one left without a present in hand and a smile on their face.
In her middle chapter, Jeri found deep joy in her life with John, the love of her life and devoted husband. Together, they shared countless adventures — traveling near and far, exploring new places, and savoring the simple joy of being side by side. Their bond was one of laughter, partnership, and unwavering affection.
Jeri also gave her heart to her community, volunteering at Bethel Lutheran Church and Attic Angels, always ready to lend a hand, share a smile, or organize a kitchen faster than anyone thought possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings, whose memories she carried with love throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, John Erickson; her children, Teri (Postweiler) Johnson, Jeff Postweiler, and Jill (Postweiler) Sommers; her brother, Tony Hawke, and sister, Cheryl Nelson, who shared in so many of life’s chapters; and John’s children, Susan (Erickson) Koehler, Al Erickson, Janet Erickson, and Nancy (Erickson) Balzer. In addition, her legacy lives on through her 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 326 S. Segoe Road, Madison, WI 53705. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., the service at 2:00 p.m., and the church reception at 3:00 p.m.

In honor of Jeri’s vibrant spirit, we invite everyone to wear a splash, dab, or ensemble of turquoise — one of her favorite colors and a reflection of her joyful style. As we gather to celebrate her life, may we remember her with laughter, warmth, love, and the brilliant color she brought to the world.
