Met Mary in the late 1970s when we got a black we named Angus. Gus' dad was Nifty Nick and mom Nikki Felly. When i went over to first meet Mary there was a black lab confortably sleeping in a chair. I must have had an interesting expression as Mary said "as long as she keeps winning trials she can sleep anywhere she wants". Noted. During the next 40 years we had 7 more Candlewood dogs. Mary was so passionate about dogs and she carved out a memorable place in the world of training and trials. Going to miss her laugh.

Mary was my babysitter, my mom's confidant, a travel companion when I was only 5 years old, and a great friend. One always knew where they stood with Mary as she had no gray area! And she was without a doubt the true Dog Whisperer even though she never whispered:) I could never thank Mary enough for all of the great companions she provided to my family and myself! One of the truly great people in the world she will be greatly missed. My guess si that right now she is throwing a retrieving Dummy for Little in a better palce. Love you Mary!! Jay B

Our first family dog—beautiful black lab—came from Mary. That dog taught our children and us parents a great deal. We’re grateful to Mary’s dedication to the breed and her kindness toward us. 🐾❤️
