Obituary

Lodi - Leo G. Cross, Sr., aged 79, passed away at his home on Friday, February 27, 2026. He was born on October 28, 1946, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of George A. Cross and Gertrude A. (Braun) Cross.

Leo attended St. Bernard Catholic School and graduated from East High School. Leo was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda (Strand) Cross. They were married on January 6, 1968, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967. Leo was stationed in Pearl Harbor and served on the USS Estes. Following his military service, Leo started working for the United States Postal Service in 1967, where he worked diligently and rose to the position of Mail Piece Design Analyst. He retired from the Postal Service after 33 years.

Leo had a dedication to service and community. He was a Boy Scout in Troop 34 out of St. Bernards in Madison and was also a Cub Master for Pack 23 out of Mendota Elementary. He served on the St. Thomas Church Council, Poynette Food Pantry, and the Post Office Credit Union Board for many years. Leo was also an avid bowler and softball player.

Leo is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; his sons, Leo (Donna) Cross Jr. and Larry (Julie) Cross; grandchildren, Thomas (Heather) Cross, Adam Cross, Vanessa Ochoa and Colin Cross; great grandchildren, Georgia and Emma Cross; siblings, Jeannine Cross, Greg Cross, Kathy Berard, Joy Hoard, Fred Cross and Steve Cross; special third son James “JimBob” Pertzborn; special niece and nephew Abram and Jennifer Cross; and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dominic Ochoa; parents, George and Gertrude Cross; and brother, Joseph Cross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 521 Fair St, Lodi. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of service.
