Obituary

Robert “Bob” William Noonan, age 89, went home to be with his heavenly father and wife Vivian on July 23, 2026, at his residence in DeForest, Wisconsin. Bob was born on January 2, 1937, in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Arthur and Dorothy (Mann) Noonan.

He graduated from Madison East High School in 1955. After school he joined the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. During his time in the Air Force, Bob was a crew chief for F100 and then F101 fighter jets. After the Air Force, Bob started his career at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company as a lineman and finished as a Technical Analyst for AT&T, retiring early in 1993.

After retirement Bob served on the Village of DeForest Planning Commission for many years. He enjoyed decades of league bowling, as well as playing softball for many years, belonging to a neighborhood card club and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. Early retirement also enabled him to be a helping hand to so many people that the list would be too long to write.

Robert was united in marriage with Vivian Noonan (Morgan) and were married for 44 years until Vivian’s early passing in 2005.

Robert is survived by his four children Tom (Kim) Noonan, Karen Noonan, Debra Standish, and Steve (Trina) Noonan; five grandchildren Cory and Cody Sachtjen, Trevor (Stephanie) Standish, Logan (Claire) Noonan, Mackenzie Noonan (Justen Berttunen); seven great grandchildren Jade and Melanie Sachtjen, Kyle, Garrett and Mallory Standish, and Bennett and Haven Berttunen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vivian; and his brothers John and Fredrick

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ringdahl for many years of caring and compassion.  Also, a special thank you to the hospice and home care providers for their wonderful care.

A private burial will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Cemetery in DeForest.
