Obituary
Jacob Jeffrey Bergeron was born December 26th, 1981 to Jeffrey and Lynda Bergeron, the youngest of three boys. As a child he grew up in Andover, MN adventuring on his family’s acreage, sparking a lifelong love of the outdoors. Along the way, the game of soccer captured his heart, he took to the water as a lifeguard and swimming instructor and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan earning a double major in Political Science and History. He later continued his education at Augsburg College earning his MBA in Business Administration. Jacob went on to take a position with TASC where he worked for the past 14 years, recently being promoted to Director of Customer Experience.
What began as two coworkers deciding to grab coffee together soon evolved into a beautiful love story. Jacob and Kristy married in 2013 and built an extraordinary life together near Madison, WI. Jacob and Kristy’s greatest joy came with the arrival of their son, Jameson‒the light of their lives. Settling in Deforest, WI, Jacob, Kristy and Jameson, along with their three dogs, Gretta, Ruby and Winston, transformed the house they built into a home. Together as a family they enjoyed camping, traveling, sporting events, golfing, fishing and cooking. Jacob was known for his signature homemade cheesecake and smoked barbeque ribs. His happy place was out in the backyard, marveling at the beautiful Deforest sunsets.
Jacob served with great pride in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 27 years, beginning as an enlisted soldier in 1999 and rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005 in support of Iraqi Freedom and later to Kuwait in 2011-2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Jacob served as Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery Regiment. Over his military career he earned numerous military honors, including the Combat Action Badge and induction into the Honorable Order of St. Barbara, one of the Field Artillery community’s highest honors.
Jacob was a lover of books. A history aficionado. Often seen with a top shelf bourbon in hand. A discuss and debate without Google kind of guy. The gift of gab. Natural born storyteller. Organizer of poker games and family Fantasy Football leagues. A clever and witty comedian. Dog whisperer and puppy communicator. Family cabin fun-initiator. Fireworks, trapshooting, target-shooting, four-wheeling, boating, and tubing. Big kid at heart. The ultimate family man.
Jacob passed away on August 29, 2026. He was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle Pamela and Larry Johnson, aunt Jane St. Marie, aunt Linda DeHart, uncle Timothy Bergeron, and his grandparents, Coral and Gayle White, Jerome Miller, Myron Bergeron, Mary Bergeron, Audrey Bergeron and Bernadine Bergeron. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristy and son, Jameson; his parents, Jeffrey and Lynda; brothers Joshua (Shannon) and Justin (Kathy); in-laws John and Marge Roloff; brother-in-law John (Katie); sister-in-law Karen (Matthew); nieces and nephews Preston, Ailee, Neela, Garioch, Easton, Keaton, Matthew, Derek and Tyler; and great niece Tatum.
