Obituary For Armand Ray Krueger

Madison – Armand Ray Krueger, age 81, lived his life to the fullest until his eternal rest on February 4, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1942 in Merrill, Wis., to Theodore E. and Ester M. (Karau) Krueger. He graduated from Merrill High School and the University of Wisconsin Farm Short Course. Armand was a dairy farmer for 7 years during which time he was awarded “Outstanding Young Farmer”.

Wanting more adventure, Armand moved to Madison and worked for the University of Wisconsin Horticulture Department for 42 years as a Senior Outreach Specialist. His research was published, and he retired in 2000 Emeritus. He retired numerous times including this last December.

Armand was a fun loving, curious, jovial, friendly person. He could fix anything and was always willing to help. Whenever anyone needed him, he was always there. Armand loved to dance and play music. He was a drummer in high school and 4H and for “The Country Musicians”. He could dance to any music. He and his wife instructed and performed with “The Cripple Creek Cloggers” for over 15 years, traveling all over the country.

Armand was a great father and all-around family man, always involved with his children and grandchildren from their school fun fares, working backstage for “Nutcracker”, to working in a booth at the Kohl Center for hockey. He rarely missed a game or performance whether it be dance, soccer, baseball, softball or hockey. Armand loved our lakes and the Wisconsin River and enjoyed pulling skiers and tubers and exploring the banks and sandbars with the children even when they became adults. He was hardworking, loyal, dependable, loving, humorous, and will be deeply missed.

Armand is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon “Cheri” Krueger (nee. Silver); his daughter, Tammy Krueger; adopted grandchildren, Gregory Evans-Krueger and Alexis (Tilly) Evans-Krueger; and other grandchildren, Raymond Luster, Brianna Luster, Travis Volkman and Allayah Lane; his sisters, Lois Barth, Joanne (Leroy) Rahn, and Sharon (Tom) Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Heidi Krueger; his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Lorraine Krueger; nephew, Kent Krueger; sister, Marion (Victor) Wadzinski; and brother-in-law, Armin Barth.

I have very treasures memories of my Uncle Armond

  • February 11, 2024

I fondly remember that Armand was accompanied by his dog King to work at the UW Horticulture research farm. Both Armand and King would greet us when we arrived at the farm. King had his own chair in the break room and was always there at lunch time. It made time spent at the farm feel a little bit like home!! Great memories! Mike Havey Emeritus Professor

When cousin Cheri married Armand I wondered how was this young, sophisticated, beautiful, city gal going to make it on a dairy farm, in the country, in the little town of Merrill, Wisconsin. Apparently a good, honest, hard working man with intelligence and a terrific sense of humor that loved her deeply did the trick. Using both of their many talents & dedication, together they forged ahead, while also giving to others. May God bless this special man, Armand, and may God bless & give comfort to Cheri and the family. With love, Kathy Rottweiler

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
