Obituary For James G. Crook

STOUGHTON – James G. Crook, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 5, 2024. He grew up in Columbus, WI and graduated from Columbus High School. Shortly after moving to Madison, he met the love of his life Colleen Klawitter. They were married on June 22, 1990. He served for 30 years in construction and a proud union boy. James enjoyed his Thursday Night Murder Mystery Book Club in Stoughton, WI. He also enjoyed sci-fi conventions, comic books, table top RPGs, and was a fan of everything horror. James touched many hearts and was a friend to all. He loved his kids and wife dearly. James is now one with the stars and galaxies beyond.

James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Colleen “Honey Bunches of Oats”; children, Jessie, Amber (Tony McConnell), Jordan, Kyle, Rose, Angelique (Chad) Seidlitz, Timothy, and Jessica; grandchildren, Raven, Jack, Sophia, Adam, Pablo, Billy, Alton, and Lilah; father, Gene; and his siblings. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his granddaughters, baby Colleen and Kayla.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital, where James would frequently visit, dressed as Santa Clause. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

I never had the opportunity to meet James. I wish I had. The stories I heard of his funny antics leaves a smile. Reminds me how my dad was. The crook family has gone through so much, my heart and thoughts are with them. This is a blow like no other. From one who has lost their dad, you will always feel his loss but as the days pass there will be more smiles. While the grief will be there to some extent the fond memories of him will prevail and bring more smiles. I cannot be there Physically but know I am holding your hands and sending all my love. Love Judy

I met Jim when we both were doing work at Madison hospital. He was inquisitive and doing well in the construction business. Sorry he had to go early in life.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
