Obituary For Jason John McCarthy

MADISON – Jason John McCarthy, age 47, passed away at Agrace Hospice on Friday, January 19, 2024. Jason was born on December 11, 1976 in Madison, WI to Dennis and Melody McCarthy. He grew up in Madison and graduated from East High School in 1995. Jason married the love of his life, Melissa, on July 24, 2010 at Lakeview Lutheran Church, Madison. He was a certified chef at several establishments in the Madison area. Jason loved fishing, especially with his Uncle Keith and Kevin “K-Dawg”, listening and singing to music, writing poetry and his biggest joy was being with his children, family, playing catch with Chicharrones, Chief, and having popsicles with his “little buddy” Caden. He was a kind, loving and thoughtful person. He touched a lot of people’s lives. Although he struggled for many years he always let his children and family know how much he loved them.

May you fly high with the angels and sing your favorite songs. Your struggles are finally over, and your eternal peace has just begun. You will forever be in our hearts.

Jason is survived by his mother, Melody (Mike) Schmitt; children, Tianna (Courtney) and Isaak; mother of his children, Erin Dietzman; siblings, Tyler and Shania; stepsister, Jackie Greathouse; and grandfather, John Topper. He is further survived by several other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis; life partner, Melissa; uncles, Keith Farris, Danny and David McCarthy; grandparents, Marion and Katherine Farris, Gerald McCarthy and Linda Topper; and his faithful loving dog, Chief.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the Funeral Home.

A huge thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Froedtert TICU in Milwaukee, and Agrace Hospice for fulfilling his wish to be there and spend his last hours in a serene and compassionate atmosphere. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the attention of his children. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservices.com

Sadly, I stumbled upon the passing of Jason while on Facebook looking at the memorial service pictures for Tim Quinlan. This shocked me, and my condolences go out to his family and children. I haven't seen Jason in many years, but our friendship was a treasure to me, he was a treasure of a friend, and I will be forever grateful to have known him. RIP J!

With greatest sympathy to Melody and family , I think of Jason coming up north to Marilyn and Don's (Spencer) and running through the garden pulling tomatoes 🍅 and throwing them whoever was close by fun times had by all ,those are the memories I have the most of the kids playing

My best memories were of those when you and all your cousins were children. Your laughter especially, was so contagious Jason! You were so lively, and huggable! We grow up, and our responsibilities grow larger, but you never lost your wonderful laugh nor smile! May you find peace- luv Debbie

I just want to say RIP Jason. I knew him in H.S. at East High. We were classmates 😢. It's so unreal that our class seems to be fading away. Last memory I have of you is having a heart to heart at Taco Bell (while you were cleaning off the tables), and we were talking about our classes mates. Then you wanted to bum a cigarette off me lol those memories I will cherish!!!😢Say Hi To Mr. McPike up there lol

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
