Obituary For Juanita Mae Nash

Madison – Juanita Mae Nash, age 98, passed away on February 17, 2024, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI. She was born on June 6, 1925, to parents Watson and Mae (Lombard) West. Juanita married Andrew Nash, Jr. on February 20, 1943. Together they raised six children. Juanita was a wonderful homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

As a member of both the American Legion and the Women’s Auxiliary Post 8483, Juanita dedicated her life to volunteering in the community. She volunteered at the Madison Veterans Hospital as one of the “Pink Ladies”, baking and delivering crafts to inpatients at the hospital, as well as selling poppies at the Capitol Building for Poppy Day. She was a member and past two term president of the Women’s Auxiliary Post 8483 and a 45-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of Lakeview Lutheran Church in Madison.

Juanita was a great cook. She loved making birthday cakes for her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for guests. When her son, John was a mechanic for race car driver, Dick Trickle, she always liked having him over for a meal. Juanita enjoyed gambling and was an avid winner at BINGO. She will always be remembered for her fun-loving, sweet personality.

Juanita is survived by her children, Janice (Gary) LaRue, Joan Watkins, and Lori Nash; beloved daughter-in-law, Karen Nash; grandchildren, A.J. McGrath, Shawn Nash, Joshua Nash, Nikki Karlen, Jeffrey Crowell, Eric LaRue, Pam Greer, Jackie Buol, Angie Gomez, Jeremy Doucette, Nathan Nash; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and beloved nieces, Millie Gramling and Linda Jacobson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Judy McGrath, John Nash, Candice Doucette; grandson, Ricky McGrath; siblings, Freda Welda, Darlene Oswald, Lloyd West, Nita Sutter, and infant sister, Vivian West.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Anne Niebler at UW Health and to Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care.

Condolences

Janice; I loved getting to know and spend time with Juanita. I was happy to know my own mother had such a wonderful friend in Juanita. She was always a joy to see, always smiling and I loved how they looked out for one another. Whenever I visited my mother I would always hope that you would be there visiting your mother too. Frances' daughter Lisa McKenzie Abbott

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
